“ICE Out!” … They call for peaceful marches in Hempstead, Brentwood and Riverhead

They call for community action to raise their voices in protest against the authoritarianism of the current United States government and its cruel anti-immigration measures that divide and terrorize our Hispanic immigrant families.

A collective of Long Island activists are calling for peaceful marches to take place this weekend in the towns of Hempstead, Brentwood and Riverhead.

“ICE Out!” It is the motto that they want to be heard loudly in defense of their rights and the constitution.

“We have witnessed the terror that ICE is creating in our Long Island communities, and we must continue to fight against injustice and in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors. Justo Newsday reported on the plan proposed by ICE to open a detention center in our own community: Holtsville, Suffolk County, NY,” said one of the organizers of the marches, renowned Hispanic activist Osman Canales, in a statement.

“We must oppose the continued criminalization of our immigrant neighbors! We—advocates, religious leaders, parents, students, community organizations, and allies—invite you to join our ICE out of Long Island Peaceful Walks,” he emphasizes.

– The first march is Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in Hempstead.

The meeting point is the Home Depot store, located at 172 Fulton Avenue, and then walk to the local town hall (Village Hall).

– The second march is also on Saturday, March 7, from 2 to 4 pm, in Brentwood.

Protesters will gather at the Food Bazar supermarket at 101 Wicks Road and then walk to the Suffolk County Police (SCPD) headquarters.

– The third march is scheduled for Sunday, March 8, from 1 to 3 pm in Riverhead.

Attendees will gather at the Dunkin Donuts store at 1051 Old Country Road and then march to Town Hall.

It should be noted that the organizers of these peaceful protests on Long Island maintain that they strongly support the approval of the “New York For All” bill that hopes to see the light of day in Albany.

“We support the passage of New York For All.

– Stop ICE’s illegal detention of innocent immigrants

– End 287(g) Agreements

– End local law enforcement collaboration with ICE

– Stop abuse and racial discrimination by ICE

– Stop the separation of families

We are planning several peaceful walks around Long Island and we need YOUR support,” they emphasize.

“If you have seen the horrible photos and videos or read about ICE activity on Long Island, you are surely outraged. Join us this weekend to show your solidarity!” they emphasize in their invitation to exercise the right to protest to put a stop to the Trump Administration and its political allies.
