Hispanics arrested for robbery in Nassau, one faces deportation

Detectives of the fourth squad of the Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) report the arrest of two women of Hispanic origin due to a largest theft occurred on January 4, 2025, at approximately 1 PM, in a commercial establishment of Oceanside, Long Island, NY.

According to the detectives, the two unknown women entered the Victoria’s Secret store, located in Long Beach Road. The females hid merchandise valued at $ 1,551 within a shopping bag. One of them left the store without paying. And another led a small baby attached to his body in a portabebés. The woman fled the place in a Honda Civic car.

After a police investigation, Doménica Rivera Mendieta, 25, and Katherine Cabrera Tapia, 27, both residents of 118th Street, in Queens County, were arrested on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

Mendieta and Tapia are accused of theft major in 4th. degree. Tapia faces an additional position for endangering the well -being of a minor. He was issued by appearance, which must be returned on April 11, 2025, before the Court of the First District of Hempstead.

NCPD reports that a subsequent investigation revealed that the defendant Mendieta has a pending deportation order before the United States Immigration and Customs Control Service (ICE) and has been put in its custody for subsequent expulsion from the country.
