Free Pickleball Clinic for Young and Adults in Baldwin Park

The Pickleball is the last sports sensation that is sweeping throughout the country and the municipality of Hempstead has received it with open arms, opening more than 70 courts in recent years.

In fact, since April is celebrated the “National Month of the Pickleball”, the Municipal Supervisor of Hempstead, Don Clavin, announced a free picklet clinic aimed at young people and older adults to teach them the ins and outs of this popular sport.

The Pickleball Free Clinic will take place on Sunday, April 27 in Baldwin Park (3232 Grand Avenue, Baldwin) from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and will be open to young people from 7 to 13 years and adults over 50 years.

The course will cover the basic pickleball rules, in addition to offering advanced advice and tricks. Skips and balls will be provided.

The announcement of this event was held in the crowded Baldwin Park Pickleball courts, with the sound of the background palettes.

Supervisor Clavin was accompanied by the attached supervisor Dorothy Goosby, councilor Laura Ryder, the municipal secretary Kate Murray, the Pickleball instructor of the Hempstead Town, Barbara Simms, and dozens of active pickletball players.

“Hempstead Town is no stranger to pickleball,” said Clavin. «During the last fourteen years, we have been expanding our Pickleball Experience and providing quality places for players to participate. Our pickleball courts are full throughout the year and we have seen how this sport has grown from a few players to a very popular sport. We are proud to offer additional clinics and classes so that more residents get involved in this accessible sport ».

It should be noted that the municipality of the Hempstead Town has 70 pickletball courts for the enjoyment of residents.

In addition, recently the Clavin Supervisor inaugurated the first Long Island pickleball court that complies with the American law with disabilities (ADA) in Forest City Park, located on Wantagh.

This court, which meets the ADA, measures 13.5 meters wide and 22.5 meters long, compared to the standard court, which measures 6 meters wide and 13.5 meters long.

The Municipality of Hempstead offers pickleball classes during the year for all ages and even organizes an annual pickleball tournament in autumn.

“With the arrival of good weather, there is no better time to learn this exciting game,” Clavin concluded. «Take advantage of the National Pickleball Month and join the free clinic that will teach you the necessary foundations to begin with. Once again, thank you all for accompanying us to celebrate the great sport of Pickleball! ”He added.
