Empire State University revolutionizes education: first title in 100% business in Spanish and online

Empire State University has marked a milestone in the New York Educational System by launching the first Spanish program within the Suny system: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), completely online. This innovative program, designed for Spanish speakers, will begin receiving students in the fall of 2025.

With this project, Empire State University not only breaks linguistic barriers, but also responds to the growing demand for accessible higher education for the Hispanic community. According to the Census Office, more than 41.2 million people in the United States speak Spanish in their homes, of which 2.7 million reside in the state of New York. It is projected that the country will have the second largest Spanish -speaking population in the world by 2060.

An inclusive and high quality program

The Bachelor of Business Administration, of 124 credits, will offer key courses such as marketing, financial accounting and business management, as well as general matters in Spanish, including science, mathematics and arts. The program will have the support of a team of teachers and bilingual staff, who will provide tutorials and personalized support in the students’ native language.

“The first Spanish online program of Empire State University will open the doors of an excellent bachelor’s degree to Spanish speakers,” said John B. King, Suny’s chancellor.

For his part, Lisa Vollendorf, rector of Empire State University, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to inclusion: “Our Bachelor of Business Administration in Spanish points to the students of the State of New York, the country and the world that Empire State University is ready to help students of all ages and origins to achieve their educational dreams.”
