Applications for NYC Charter schools: What you need to know for the 2025-26 school year

The Charter schools of New York City are already accepting applications until April 1 for the 2025-26 school year.

Through the NYC Charter Schools website, NycCharterschools.Schoolmint.net, you can request admission to multiple Charter schools in its neighborhood and find dates and schedules arranged for virtual open doors through the NYC virtual visits calendar.

The NYC Charter Schools website is easy to navigate for anyone, and applicants may submit their application in 10 different languages.

If you move slightly down on the home page, you will see four different options: search a school, request, information for parents and virtual school.

The “Search for a school” section in Schools.nyccharterschools.org will take you to a page with a search map. Here, you can see a list of schools, as well as options to refine your search by neighborhood, Community School District (CSD), District and Grade Level.

The “information for parents” section contains answers to frequent questions such as “what di-deferens to the Charter schools of traditional district schools?” and “What are the benefits of enrolling my son at a charter school?” It also contains tips for the application.

The “Virtual Schools” section will open a calendar that contains the dates and hours in which you can visit any school of your interest. They have dates available until April. If you click on a school, a page will appear that shows what levels of grade the school contains, where the school is located, at what time the virtual event and a zoom link that can be used to join the meeting will be held. There is also an option to add this event to your bearer, which will remind you of the event closer to the date by sending you a notification.

To request admission, you can visit nyccharterschools.schoolmint.net. This will take you to the login page, where you can create an account and start the application process.

Once you believe an account, the online application form will ask you to create your profile in three steps. The first step will ask for information from the father/tutor, such as his address, relationship with the student, etc. The second step will ask for information about the student, such as his name, date of birth, etc. The final step asks you to choose the favorite schools, complete a request and confirm said application.

Applications must be sent before midnight on April 1, deadline. After having completed your application, you can log in to make changes in your family profile if necessary or add school selections. Some Charter schools can continue to accept requests after April 1. In that case, parents or guardians are recommended to common directly with the school to know the exact dates.

If there are more students requests than places available in a given school, the high-charter must make raffles to randomly select students for admission. Students who are not selected in the lottery process will be included in the school waiting list and may be chosen for admission if a place is available in the future.

Each Charter school carries out its own lottery and registration process. Families must expect to receive news from schools after the application deadline.
