Sisters Venus and Serena Williams received a wild card to play in the women’s doubles tournament at the 2026 US Open, the USTA organization (The United States Tennis Association) reported.
Venus, 46, and Serena, 44, have just played the women’s doubles at the Cincinnati Open, where they lost in the first round.
It was their first appearance together in four years, precisely since they were also eliminated at the first opportunity at the 2022 US Open.
The two sisters have won 14 Grand Slam titles – 9 times in the US tournament – and three Olympic gold medals as a couple.
Serena, who will not participate in the individual draw, played the mixed doubles on Tuesday with the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, where she showed a good level, but it was not enough to advance to the second round.
Venus will compete in singles thanks to an invitation letter from the organization.
The United States Tennis Open also announced the withdrawal of Brazilian Joao Fonseca, number 26 in the ATP, from the men’s singles draw.
