Successful women’s lifeguard tournament on Lido Beach in the Town of Hempstead

The Town of Hempstead recently hosted their successful annual Women’s Lifeguard Tournament. This summer event was held on July 29 at Lido Beach Municipal Park, located in Long Island, NY.

Dozens of beach patrol lifeguards from across the Northeast region of the country gathered to compete in tests of physical prowess and lifesaving skills.

The day of the “Women’s Lifeguard Tournament 2026” overflowed with spirit and fraternity. Participating groups included lifeguards and teams from the Northeast and Long Island, including patrol representation from Smith Point and Jones Beach.

«This spectacular event brings together lifeguards from across the Northeast region for a day of friendly but intense competition. I am especially proud of the lifeguards from our own Hempstead Township who participated in the competition,” said Hempstead Supervisor John Ferretti.

“The Town of Hempstead has some of the best beaches in the United States, and we are fortunate to have such dedicated lifeguards who ensure the safety of our residents,” he emphasized.
