Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) is joining forces with Believe at Bellaire Inc. and Go Party on Demand to host a community “Back to School” celebration and free backpack giveaway to Long Island students.
This “Back-to-School Block Party” event takes place this Saturday, August 29, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Harold Walker, Jr. Memorial Park, which is located at 1085 Woodfield Road, Rockville Centre, NY 11570.
At this activity in Lakeview, families can pick up backpacks full of school supplies (while supplies last) and enjoy hands-on activities for kids, a neurodivergent-friendly sensory room, a pizza-eating contest, a cash cube challenge, and a petting zoo.
Also enjoy Zabo Circus Shows, Pony Rides, Water Tank (target game), Arts and Crafts Stations, Games, Prizes, Popcorn, Inflatables, Face Painting, Cotton Candy, Food, Music, Community Resources, Caregiver Workshops, Gospel Music Concert, Live Band and much more.
The Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) Fifth Precinct and Lakeview Fire Department will also reportedly be present at the event with interactive experiences, and various local community and professional organizations will offer a variety of services and resources to attendees.
“For families across Nassau County, back-to-school season is an extremely important time, but it can also put a strain on family budgets, especially during a time of economic uncertainty and rising costs,” said Democratic Legislator Solages.
