Brentwood Union Free School District has been named to Forbes’ list of “America’s Best Employers for Women” for 2026.
Ranked 59th out of 700, this prestigious award is given in collaboration with Statista, the world’s leading statistics portal and industry rankings provider.
“This is an incredible honor for the Brentwood Union Free School District and a moment of great pride for our entire school community,” said Superintendent Wanda Ortiz-Rivera.

The 2026 “America’s Best Employers for Women” list, released Aug. 4, is based on data collected through online panels with more than 146,000 women working at U.S. companies and institutions with at least 1,000 employees over the past three years.
Only responses from women were taken into account. The analysis is based on 3 criteria:
1. Personal evaluations (direct): Recommendations from current employers.
2. Public evaluations (indirect): Recommendations from previous employers.
3. Leadership Diversity Index: Index based on the percentage of women among senior executives and board members.
This prestigious recognition highlights Brentwood’s commitment to the inclusion, equity and empowerment of women at all levels.
As the only public school district in New York State to be included on the list, this recognition reflects the Brentwood School District’s ongoing efforts to create a work environment where women thrive, lead, and have the tools necessary to succeed.
