The Second Squad of the Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) reports the arrest of three men of Hispanic origin who were transporting rifles on Long Island, one of them is an undocumented immigrant and was handed over to the ICE agency. This case occurred on July 31, at 3:58 pm, in the Jericho area.
According to authorities, agents from the Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team (CIRRT), while conducting routine patrol, observed three unknown subjects getting out of their vehicles in the parking lot located at 86 Jericho Turnpike.
The men then opened a large wooden box and transferred numerous rifles to their respective vehicles.
Given this, the agents of the “Second Squad” carried out an investigation and proceeded to arrest, without incident, Gilberto Rivera López, 45 years old, resident of Hopper Street, New Cassel; Rudi W. Rivera López, 30, of Tamarack Street, Central Islip; and Manuel Gutiérrez Pineda, 33 years old, resident of Sheridan Street, New Cassel.
A subsequent investigation revealed that the subjects were in possession of a white powdery substance presumed to be cocaine, a counterfeit Social Security card, several knives, 3 machetes, and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
Those arrested face charges for crimes of failure to safely store firearms in 1st. 5th degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance. grade, loitering in 1st. degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree. degree and criminal possession of a forged document in 2nd. degree.
It should be noted that Rudi W. Rivera López and Gilberto Rivera López appeared for their arraignment on August 1, 2026 before the First District Court.
Meanwhile, Manuel Gutiérrez Pineda was released after receiving a summons to appear in court. Further investigation revealed that this defendant is illegally in the United States and is subject to removal proceedings.
Agents from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) assumed custody of Gutiérrez Pineda.
