On Sunday, July 26, the New York Hall of Science, in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, was filled with yellow, blue and red as thousands of people gathered to celebrate the 2026 edition of the Colombian Pride Independence Festival (FIOC NY). The event brought together families, friends and visitors from across the tri-state area in a great celebration of music, gastronomy, dance and pride in their Colombian roots.
Under the motto “One rhythm, one heart. Yes, Yes Colombia!”, the festival commemorated the 216 years of Colombia’s Independence with a festive atmosphere that lasted throughout the afternoon. The main stage vibrated with the presentations of Jhonny Rivera, Jenny López, Andy Caicedo, Dubán Bayona, Ricardo Stevan, El Arriero del Café, Mr. Sax, DJ Pereira and Rayna, who made the audience sing and dance to the rhythm of popular music, vallenato, salsa and tropical sounds.

The party was much more than a concert. Nearly 10,000 attendees enjoyed the most representative flavors of Colombia, from arepas and empanadas to salchipapas and family tapas, while they visited dozens of entrepreneur stalls and cultural spaces. Many arrived dressed in Colombian National Team t-shirts, ruanas and voltiaos hats, transforming the park into a colorful tribute to Colombian identity, traditions and pride.
One of the most special moments was the presentation of Ana Sofía Ortiz Jiménez, FIOC 2026 Queen Ambassador, along with María Paz Chamorro Mora, Miss Teen Universe Colombia 2026. The festival also included the long-awaited drawing for two plane tickets to the winning country of the Soccer World Cup and $2,000 for travel expenses, in the midst of an atmosphere of celebration and emotion.
Once again, the FIOC reaffirmed why it has become one of the most important Colombian festivals in New York, bringing together generations of immigrants and those who enjoy the cultural richness of the South American country.
