The Whitney Museum becomes the cultural epicenter of the 2026 World Cup in New York

During the 2026 World Cup, the Whitney Museum of American Art will expand its programming with live broadcasts of matches, artistic activities, music, special visits to the Whitney Biennial 2026 and free admission on select dates, becoming one of the main meeting points for soccer fans and culture lovers.
Visitors will be able to enjoy Free Friday Nights, Free Second Sundays, DJ sessions, creative workshops inspired by the World Cup, panoramic views from the museum terraces and a varied gastronomic offer. In addition, those who visit the museum wearing the shirt of their national team will receive a 20% discount on admission purchased at the box office.
The programming coincides with the 2026 Whitney Biennial and exhibitions that include works by iconic artists such as Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keeffe, Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, offering a unique experience where art and sports meet in the heart of Manhattan.
“Runner-up”: soccer and comedy come to the Thalía Spanish Theater in Queens

In the run-up to the 2026 World Cup, former Spanish soccer player Zuhaitz Gurrutxaga presents “Subcampeón” in New York, an autobiographical monologue that combines humor, emotion and honesty to recount his experience on and off the fields.
A former Real Sociedad player and bronze medalist with Spain at the 1997 U-17 World Cup, Gurrutxaga shares the pressures of professional football, his personal and mental health challenges, and the path that led him to reinvent himself as a musician, comedian, and writer. The show offers an intimate and unfiltered look at the world of sports, mixing anecdotes, reflections and a lot of humor.
Based on his book of the same name, “Subcampeón” is an ideal proposal for soccer fans and for those who enjoy inspiring stories told with authenticity and a sense of humor.

Carolina Gaitán stars in “VIDA” in a limited season on Repertorio Español

Colombian actress and singer Carolina Gaitán, recognized for her work in Encanto, Narcos and Sin Senos Sí Hay Paraíso, arrives in New York with “VIDA”, a dazzling musical monologue that will be presented for a limited time at Repertorio Español.
The work follows the story of María, a young Colombian singer whose greatest failure becomes the impetus to transform her life. Guided into the glamorous and competitive world of entertainment, she reinvents herself as Vida Santiago, a rising diva who pursues her dreams amidst challenges, ambition and personal discovery.
Written and directed by Johan Velandia, the production combines live music, drama and Gaitán’s powerful voice in a celebration of identity, reinvention and the price of fame. The feature is presented in Spanish with English surtitles.
