Northeast Elementary School, located in Amityville, commemorated Earth Day with its annual Earth Day Gallery Walk, transforming the school into a vibrant showcase of student creativity, environmental awareness and hands-on learning.
On April 22, the building’s classrooms displayed a wide variety of recycling projects created by students, inviting classes to participate in a tour throughout the school to explore the work of their classmates.
Hallway displays featured imaginative creations such as piggy banks made from coffee cans, binoculars made from paper tubes, interactive recycling stations, bird feeders fashioned from milk cartons and sporks, as well as colorful “Earth Day” posters displayed outside each classroom.
As the little students moved from room to room, they not only admired their classmates’ creativity, but also deepened their understanding of sustainability and the importance of caring for the planet.
To enhance the festive atmosphere, many students proudly wore decorative crowns alluding to “Earth Day”, bringing an extra touch of fun and school spirit to the celebration.
This annual event continues to be a meaningful tradition at Northeast, encouraging students to think creatively about recycling and environmental responsibility, while celebrating Earth Day in an engaging and memorable way.
